This page will provide a brief overview of our school and our general philosophy toward education.

Curtiston Elementary School was renamed Curtiston Primary School in 1986 when Attalla Elementary, Curtiston Elementary, and Stowers Hill Elementary were consolidated.Due to this consolidation, all kindergarten, first and second gradestudents within the Attalla area are now educated at Curtiston Primary School and all third, fourth, and fifth grade students are educated at Stowers Hill Intermediate School.

Over the years many additions have been made to the original Curtiston building including: a second grade wing, a kindergarten wing, a media center, and a lunchroom.  The original lunchroom was converted into a gymnasium.

In 1988, a fire caused substantial damage to the school.  One classroom on the kindergarten hall was completely destroyed and the entire school building was damaged by smoke and water.  Many volunteers helped clean the building and salvage usable materials.  Because of the efforts of dedicated teachers and community volunteers, students were able to continue school in the building without missing a day of school.  The damaged area of the school was repaired and rebuilt.

During the 2000-2001 school year two new classrooms were built at Curtiston Primary School.  Plans are now underway to build a new school biulding.
